Videri String Quartet
Michael Klinberg, Education Programming Director
A classically trained violinist and music educator, Michael Klinberg earned a BM in Violin Performance and a Master’s in Music Education at Indiana University, where he studied with Mimi Zweig. With five years of teaching as a faculty member of the IU String Academy, during which he operated his own private studio and acted as Mimi Zweig’s associate instructor, he’s a dedicated pedagogue. His teaching consisted of Suzuki-based instruction merged with supplemental curricula involving jazz improvisation and composition projects. As a researcher, he explores intersections between video games and classical music, presenting his work nationally at conferences such as the Symposium on Research in Music Learning and Teaching and the Music Research and Teacher Education National Conference. In 2022, he founded the Music in Games Society, serving as its President, and secured numerous grants for his interdisciplinary, community-wide video game music projects. In addition to student-led performances, he also organized guest residencies and lectures, video game music commissions for local youth ensembles, and inter-department collegiate game jams. He collaborates frequently with the Videri String Quartet both as a performer and as their director of educational programs, advocating for video game music education across age groups and communities.
